Why doesn't save and exit act like quicksave outside of dungeons?

Even after several months playing this game, it still trips me up when I save and exit and then come back to it, die and lose my progress because I forgot to hit quicksave the night before when I was done for the night. Is there any reason Save and Exit doesn't just do a quicksave when you are outside of a dungeon and able to do it? It's just something to save me a step when I am done with that session.

When loading a game, click on the folder icon and you should be able to choose which save of that game you want to load from. I agree that clicking load should automatically choose the last saved game option, whether it's from sleeping, quicksaving, or save and exit. Not sure why it doesn't do that upon dying. Might be a fail safe thing so that if you save and exit only to come back and find that you can't make it to a town without dying, you don't get stuck in a death loop.

Beside this that you can choose which save you like to load its a diffeculty level of not saving in dungeons, crypts, tombs exc exc exc.... if you really want to have this option then select easy mode to play there you can save where you wanna save.

Personally its oke and just don't forget to push quicksave.... its still your own choice or responsebility right....

We all had our WTF moments of forgetting something and we learn from our mistakes...... well i didt ;) .

Save and exit saves game. The game is even saved if phone call interrupts your playing.

Only problem that can be is, will you continue game from last save. If it is not case, you can reload game manually from last saved position.

There was this bug where game didn't loaded last saved position. Thought it was solved, but it can be that it still doesn't work 100%.

I'm aware of the folder icon. It doesn't help if I forget to quick save or do an explicit save to one of the 2 slots for that. Save and Exit uses the "Continue Playing" slot, which goes away when you die. I can work around it with quicksave, but it would be nice if save and exit would do a quicksave if it was available just to save me an extra action when I'm done playing. Just a nice to have, not a must have.

Understandable from your point of view. For me it's actually the other way around: I'm glad that it doesn't do an automatic quicksave upon leaving, because I'm often testing some weird stuff for the Wiki, doing things which I don't want to save. So I exit and load the quicksave the next time I continue playing regularly. Would be a bad surprise to find my weird actions back in place. This is, of course, not the common thing people do with this game...

Yeah, that's pretty much all I use the 2 save slots for, to give me a point to go back and try stuff out.

This is something that David possibly should change if that actually happens. In case of death, no save slot should be deleted. It looks like a bug to me.

It's not a bug, it's intended. Because otherwise you could use the exit function of the game to practically quicksave in dungeons, even in normal/hard mode. And that's what David wants to prevent...

You now save in dungeons if you receive call. But this save slot is "zero save slot". And can't be exploited.

But, when you save and exit, I guess it doesn't use zero save slot? I'm not sure.
