Without more info from David, the Varannari are largely undeveloped at the moment. Similar to the Wizard's Guild and the possible negative reputation from a quest, it is unknown what side effects poor/good reputation will have with those groups.

I personally am holding off doing those TH quests because of this unknown factor (and that I really don't do TH quests).

I have managed to be friendly with the varannari. I know at this point there are no varannari towns or much of anything, and the lure of magical items as a reward is always tempting, but I can buy some mercia reputation and not the other. Also, i want that achievement for varannari. All in all my character helps mercia with its rebellion trouble but i dont condone slavery so, meh, it's a wash in merxia.

I hate slavery, and became a criminal for speaking my mind to a certain praeotor(sp?). In fact I had to pay lots of gold to clear my name out west.

I hate slavery and will fight against it. The varanarri will all be freed if I can. I am friendly with them because I fight for them.

Nothing you can really do. David condones slavery and doesn't give the player the option to free all slaves without having dire consequences.

That is an unfair accusation Arrows. David does not condone slavery. He has only put it into the world and allows players to decide if they wish to tolerate it or not. Obviously, if there is a nation where slavery is legal, and you fight or speak out against the institution of slavery, you are not going to be very popular and will likely be a criminal as well. The game, similar our world history, reflects that.

Slavery in one form or another has been around nearly forever, and likely always will be. The corporate store syndrome, indentured servitude, thralls, slaves, the word or phrase used does not change the intent. I have seen it personally first hand, all over the world, even in the US...

So, (this comment is directed to everyone, not just the individual I quoted) while everyone is entitled to their opinion, please make sure you know what you are talking about before spewing slander towards anyone here on the forums. Otherwise, future postings may not be so polite and/or you may find yourself unable to log in. Remember the forum rules.

Well, following that logic (David is pro slavery because there are slaves in game), we also can say that David is for killing of all living beings. Because, in EK you can kill almost anyone. And imagine world in which we all only play games where we send our love to each other. You sit with your phone (tablet, PC, whatever) and send love, love, to everyone and anyone.

So, basically, I don't believe that David is pro slavery. At least there's no good proof for that at the moment.

Also, from my perspective, I just see game that works great. I do my choices by my consciousness. I know my in-game choices have its price. And I gladly pay them. I know I can't be popular with everyone. I just want to be popular with some of them. For me, it is how great game should be, just like the real world is.

Locking this; I believe this discussion is not particularly productive anymore nor holds value to people looking for in-game information. I'll just confirm that Varannari are planned to be developed as a faction with its own content and rewards at some point, but it's mere ideas I have as of now, and it's unlikely to be added until the main quest is completable.

Regarding the claim about what I endorse or not, I'm going to give the poster the benefit of doubt and asume it was just a (bad) joke. Case closed.
