Warrior's Guild initiation

(A small text wall incoming, so bear with me)

There's something that's been on my mind for some time now and I'd like to know what other people think of it.

So, basically, for anyone who doesn't know, in order for you to be initiated into Warrior's Guild, you have to go and kill some Minotaur raiders.

Sounds easy enough, right? For a player, maybe.

So what I'm wondering is this: What is the standard amount of fighting effectiveness one has to possess in order to be accepeted into the guild, anyway?
For some reason, I think that 80-90% of Warrior's Guild members would die trying to undertake the same quest that players do. Fighting three minotaurs at once is no joke, when you think of it(I know you can bait them one by one, but that realistically wouldn't happen).

Besides the fact that there may have not been any other jobs at the time, why does the protagonist get the short end of the stick? Why does Sergeant Daukar send us on what would be a suicide mission for most people, fighters or not? Couldn't she wait a couple of days for a contract to clear out 10 Giant Rats out of a cellar or something? :p

And yes, I know our protagonist participates in the fort assault, but that was a team effort, so nothing extraordinary on the player's part.

So, what do you think of this? Is the standard in Warrior's Guild just so high or is Sergeant Daukar simply not right in the head? :p

You can't start that quest unless you're level 9 or higher (Fort Assault).

The impression i got from the warriors guild is that more than brawny fighters, they are mercenaries with some kind of honor. Putting myself in the protagonists shoes, i think i would bring help. Probably fellow mercenaries, and i would make sure that my fighting force was well prepared. I think that kind of thinking matters more to the warriors guild than sheer brawny strength.

That being said i almost never hire mercenaries because i know how little i can do to keep them alive and i do feel responsible for leading them to their inevitable death, regardless of the wad of gold i hand them for their assistance. A handful of gold isn't much good to a dead man.

Yeah, I suppose that course of action would be the most logical.
Still, I'm not 100% sure if it was very responsible of Daukar to send a rookie on such a mission, even if they were to bring help. I guess you could go with ''if you don't survive, you're useless to us'' kind of logic, but I don't think that Warrior's Guild is like that.

Speaking of that, if you pay them 800 gold then when they die, you should be able to pick that money back up off their corpse.
While I would love to pick up the gold off of them, seeing as how they can't even handle Orc Elites adequately, I'm not sure if it's really fair from a balance standpoint. Maybe half of what you gave them? :p

Why is there an assumption that the mercenaries you can hire are part of the warriors guild? Do they mention it?
I always saw them as just a bunch of freelancers looking to hire out their swords to whoever's willing to pay. The Warriors' Guild is more serious - they're organized, have their own heirarchy, trainers, shops. They take on big or heavy contracts, and aren't just hired swords to whoever's willing to pay.

No one assumed that. What Apeiros most likely meant was that you should bring hired help with you.

I am definitely not saying all mercenaries are members of the warriors guild. I am saying that if you pay close attention to the dialogue in the quests leading up to fort assault, that many members of the warrior's guild are mercenaries.
