v.8, b.420: Feedback on new stuff

New things I really liked:
1: The troll. Stumbling across the troll without any advanced knowledge made for a genuinely fun first experience.
2: The new sea cavern was really well done. Compact, but with different things going on. The special aspect of the cave made the fights seem interesting rather than repetitive.

New things I need to check-out more:
3: Crafting and alchemy. Yeah, can't believe I skipped those.
4: Mage Companion. I think she would be more useful than the Hunter companion.

New things I liked, but really hated in the moment:
5: The 5 Yaksa raider fights. By Hirge's untouched bead! WTF! Five of them? First round landing three critical hits and 12 poison ranks on my bodyguard? That seems way too excessive for my poor Level 3 party with basic equipment. Maybe leave them till after the Lantern area....

Things I hate and will never quite forgive the Developer for doing.
6: The troll chest. Do you know how much time and energy and frustration I spent trying to get to, and unlock that chest? Only to find out it's empty. That's taking trolling too far.

Things I think need monitoring before v.1.00.
7: The skill system. It seems like the skill system is overall complicated with a lot of overlapping skills. This result is a confusing mesh of skill checks that pretty much ensure a player will fail too many checks for a fun experience, and too many major checks for a function game. (The block door in the final lantern is a good example, passing it gives a much quicker rest option, failing it pretty much ruins a playing session by having a tedious town trip for no other reason than to waste the player's time).

It's a troll chest. The name says it all. :D

How few players will organically come across it?
Only those that have a habit of jumping into water.
(I may have the world record for drowning deaths.)

Which Yaksa fight is new? I thought those were all present already in earlier versions? (At least after that area was properly added)

The first version had only 3 of them.
Increasing it to 5 adds quite a new twist.

Really? I remembered that there was also a fight against 5 even before this update. Not only the fight against the group of 3.
I don't see anything about it in the changelog either, so are you sure you aren't just mixing up the different Yaksa fights?

Thanks for the renewed feedback, your "new stuff" is quite old to me, since for several months already I've been living in Urendale :cool:

What chest is empty? It must probably be caused by a duplicated ID, not intentional.

I am glad you enjoy Yaksa, you're going to love the next area. In any case, all those fights are optional, so they can be revisited later.

The chest hidden in the water to the right of the bridge in Redaxe Tomb aka the troll cave.

It has a lock with a difficulty of 6 (highest in the game right now).
