In the party order sorting screen, the character icon gets displaced with respective to the mouse cursor if you drag it to the left or right after grabbing it.
This is especially noticable if you try to move a character from position #1 to #6 or vice versa.
For inserting the character at the new position, the position of the mouse cursor seems to be relevant, not the position of the character icon (which is rather counterintuitive).
