Thoughts from a newb cleric who just cleared Ark on casual

Hullo.

First of all, wanted to thank David and all involved for this game. I think I first encountered it several years back on my phone. Downloaded, tried it, got bored, but thought it good enough to pay for full, so I did.

Years went by, and a couple weeks back, I came across it again, and its been great fun thus far! Thanks for all the hard work!

I'm consider myself newb as I played on casual and really don't remember much from my previous playthrough several years back.
But it was fun! Now that my cleric is done with Ark (which I thought was well designed!), I guess the SoH is next. Not sure what to expect from that...

Some thoughts:
- After New Garand, I got a little lost as to where to go next. If I follow the main quest, I need to farm for materials (fire salts I think) and it isn't immediately obvious where to find them. Some hints in-game would be nice.
- After finding out where the tower ought to be, it seems to take me somewhere pretty scary (I hate spiders...). And the hidden route isn't easy to find, which means roaming around a place with spiders that can kill in a few hits. Some advice on toxic resistance and places to find armor with toxic resists might help.

- Level-wise, I seem to hit a wall at about level 9 or 10. At this point, I find myself really clueless about what to do and where to go. I can just go exploring, but the newb in me is a little apprehensive about getting in too deep.

I think my point is that, for a new player, playing this game seems to require lots of offline work checking out the wiki. (At least it did for me...)
I'm just wondering if the devs might consider stronger sign-posting in-game that would help the player have an idea of where to go and explore next without needing to just try their luck or checking out the wiki.

The game does a decent job of this through the main quest. From Lanneger to New Garand. And then a bit of a curve to the tower. But at that point, you're set loose to go wherever you want. Which is great for some I guess. But maybe some of us need a bit more tips than just 'look for scary monsters'?

Not sure if anyone else has this problem, but before I started my cleric, I tried a warrior and then a mage, and both hit a soft wall (didn't know where to go and what to do and so not motivated to do it...) at about level 9 or 10.

The cleric, perhaps by virtue of its survivability, was more able to cross this soft wall and move on. Even then, I spent lots of time on the wiki, figuring out what dungeons I had missed and which areas might be suitable for my level.

I confess I kinda enjoyed the part from the Dragon Coast onwards. It was very clear where I had to go and what I had to do. While I understand not everyone likes being railroaded like that, perhaps the ghost in the tower could get more lines of dialogue to hint where might be suitable for the player's level at that point? Or instead of tagging to player level, tag it to bosses that drop shards and arranged according to difficulty?

As a parting word. Intervention is seriously OP. But I guess it makes cleric a great introductory class for newbs. =D
