Thief teammate left? !

Noob here, I thought the thief became my teammate upon escaping the sewer. I gave him armors and weapons. How do I get him back or a new teammate that I can equip to help me. The mercenaries I buy in town don't seem to have this capability.

The mercenaries are mostly just for adding a sword for temp jobs.

The "thief's" name is Adaon. Number 16 on the map. Answers your question without spoilers for anyone else who might be reading.

Other companions can be unlocked via quests.

At the moment there's three permanent companions, you can check the game, or wiki, to found out about them.

When he leaves, he explains you can find him on the west part of town. Must complete the letter quest first.
