So in preparation for taking on Faazvolfrul in the Deep Cauldron I decided to go pick up a couple of pairs of Ruined Dragoon boots in the Mausoleum. I haven't had a particularly difficult time getting them in the past, but this time I've ran it 7 times and have yet to get a single pair.
On the other hand, previous to going for the boots I did the Poisoned River quest, and I got not 1, not 2, but 3 IG Fists!! I don't know what the statistical probability of that is, but I'm guessing it's about the same as a troll speaking for 30 minutes without a single episode of gibberish.
I think the Golem Trader in the City of the Ancients should actually TRADE. (I'll give you a pair of Dragoon Boots for one IG fist.) C'mon, David, make it happen!

It sounds like you just encountered the typically peak and valley of randomness.

The Ruined Dragoon Boots are an uncommon drop. Per the Wiki, they have a 22.4% chance to drop. So let's do the math.

Chance: 0.224
Attempts: 14 (7 dungeon runs, 2 chests drop the boots per run)
Binomial Probability:
97% of players will have found at least one pair.
85% of players will have found more than one pair.
<3% of payers will have not found any at all.

So failing to find one pair after 7 dungeon runs puts you in the far edge of possible outcomes, but still well in the range of expected outcomes.

Not, I'm assuming you're checking both chests in the fire area that can drop the boots. Obviously, the chance of finding the boots without checking those chests is zero.

IGF is supposed to be rare and a treat. And it is. RDB are supposed to be reasonably grindable and they are.

I did not realize that the IGF drop rate was that low. I cleared the poisoned river dungeon not more than 10 times and got one.

It's one of the strongest weapons in the game entire and you can get get it relatively early. It's in the same bracket as the rewards for the Abbey, Lady of the Night, or Undergrove quests. Something to bear in mind when you equip it way before you ready to smash those places to bits.

I would classify IGF as a heavy hitter !H weapon for clerics. It may even outperform 1H lightning swords for warriors.
