After he gave the quest. You only get the option to attack him if you haven’t completed it and don’t have the crown in your inventory.

May I ask what's your status of the quest to retrieve the crown for king Mooo after this slaughtery?

Not gonna lie, your post inspired me to go and do the same thing.
I see absolutely no downside to this so far.
It was super easy to do also as a Rogue, just start in the middle room with the regular priestess and work them all one by one until it's done.

plus being able to keep the crown of Galade, have that sweet cape of might, AND you get a sweet axe out of it. Just make sure you get one of the enchanted rings before the killing spree commences or you'll miss out on a pretty good item that can diversify a ton of Rogue builds.
