Never go into the cave at low level on quest "a web of terror" and save the game. Once you are trapped inside there is no way out. And if the game is saved while you are inside when you die you are still trapped inside...forever....

Nothing to do but start the whole game again :x

Do you not have a backup save file? I always keep my autosave (from sleeping) and quick saves separate. Atleast we may learn from this experience lol.
A similar thing happened to me actually. I wanted to take a look inside Mount Stormes castle but guards body block you because the content isn't available. Not giving up I lured some wolves there, the guards aggroed on them and I snuck my way in. It was disappointing, nothing was there but atleast I removed most of the black space from my map. On my way back I noticed the guards moved back into place and were once again blocking me. My teleport scroll wouldn't work (probably because I'm right next to a city) so I was stuck. Good thing for save files!

All you have to do is Continue > yellow folder button > continue from autosave.

The autosave can't be manually overwritten, and will take you back to your last inn sleep.

The ability to load from an inn-save seems to come up often. When the game manual gets made, perhaps this should be one of the first things in bold :)

(I missed it too)

I added the text on the bottom of Continue Game, not sure how to make it even more visible.

Of course I could write a full manual, but nobody reads manuals in 2017 so I tried everything in the game to be self-explained, still there are a few elusive things like this.

Something like this maybe?
1) Replace big "credits" button with a thumbnail and put it next to "social" buttons at the bottom.
2) Add a big "load" button next to "continue".
3) Make "continue" to instantly load from the latest saved game, and "load" to display the whole list.

And I remember there was another question regarding "new game" screen looking similar to "continue" screen (so player may overwrite existing game by mistake). If you want to solve that one as well, just switch hero creation (name/portrait/class) and save slot selection screens.

Consider having the text at the top under the "Choose a game" heading. People may be too used to text at the bottom of a screen being disclaimers that can be ignored. Thus, your informative text might be functionally invisible.
