[SPOILER] Is the "bad" path of "Mushroom Hunt" a dead end?

Does anybody know what happens if you give Ratha the bad mushroom pods from Janus?
I tried it, but no matter how many days I skip via resting, Rantha still tells me that he will inform me about the result soon...
I have also no idea which role the Baron's daughter plays in all this. There was a brief forced dialog after I accepted the quest from Rantha, but since then she only tells me that she might speak to me again the next day... which never happens.

So I wonder if this path of the quest is still unfinished and a dead end for now. Or is there a specific action I need to do before the quest is advanced?
I think I did all other accessible content in the new area and I have no idea what that could be.

Not a dead end, though it isn't advanced by sleeping, despite what the dialog might suggest.
I made the same mistake when I tried it out because I also thought that it was affected by time.
Just continue to go out and play normally and you'll advance it soon enough.

Ah, I see, thanks for this hint.

I was reluctant to play any real content to test this path because I want to pursue the "good" path anyway in my main timeline and was just curious what the outcome of the other path would be. That's why I just rested and then reloaded instead of playing content.

But now with all other things done I guess it doesn't hurt to create an alternate timeline where I enjoy the beauty of the forest and maybe visit some old friends here and there and see what happens eventually.

OMG, things unfolded much faster than I expected and the consequences seem very far-reaching.
I think I will keep a save with this quest unfinished to see how it evolves once more content is available.
