I hear a lot of people complain that their companions don't pick traps. I thought of a elegant solution.
Speak to your companion and you can tell him how he should respond to traps.
1. Attempt to disarm every trap
2. Disarm every trap that you think you understand (traps with 50%+ chance of success)
3. Disarm the traps you are almost certain you can (traps with 75%+ chance of success)
4. Leave the traps to me

This would have no effect on hidden traps. It allows you to more carefully control your companions and how they react to traps. Or also let's you watch Grissenda suicide in the Mercian Crypt. This only lets the characters like Grissenda trigger traps you have already seen, so it shouldn't completely nullify the threat traps pose to you.

The downside to that approach is that you can set your Companion to disarm every trap, knowing they will die and auto-regenerate, which would defeat traps as key obstacles in some areas.

I would amend your proposal by limiting the disarm trap command to:
1) Leave all traps to me
2) Try to disarm traps you think you can disarm (65% or whatever is current)
3) Only try to disarm traps you are very likely to disarm (90%)

That's the best command options, in my opinion.

Of course, you can put one more:
4) Set a trap (or explosive trap, if it's known by your companion) on that place - the tile that your companion are at that moment, or you'll have to click somewhere to complete the action, don't know what's easier...
