I was under the impression that if rank and difficulty were equal one has a 60% success chance. With each rank above being +20% and each rank below being -40%. Which since this is a difficulty 0 vs rank 0 it should be 60% (plus the 8% for 68%). If it is actually a thing that having no ranks adds an extra -30% then well these very basic tasks become quite hard without ranks and rank 1s become basically impossible without ranks (-10% before skill bonus). With rank 2s being completing impossible (-50% before skill bonus)

yes, currently with 0 ranks you get a +30% instead of a +60%, but that's something I can consider changing. After all, I think there one (maybe two?) zero difficulty checks in the game.

While it's up to you if you change it or not, it would probably be best to be consistent about it.

Because in the party creation window, it does say that you have a 60% base chance on Difficulty 0 checks.

When things first started the beach and first dungeon had several skill checks that were +50 or higher difficulty making them very easy checks even without ranks. Craving the club, lockpicking the first chest, spotting the shield and various other items, tipping over the beam and then the mushroom. When you talked about reworking the skill system I assumed you were going to make those checks have negative difficulties to keep them in line with how they were before.
