Where can i find fire salt, ice salt etc and what exactly are they for ?

Elemental enemies drop them. Fire salts and living ice are used in quests, Where is Amarisa and Important Research. Wiki for more info.

Very true. However since some form of grinding is needed right now, might as well track them down and save the gold (200-250 iirc). Give purpose to your slaughter of the poor denizens of the Exiled Kingdoms.

For my cleric, hunting down 10 salts was a pain. After 3 gorx clears I ran from lannegar to kingsbridge til I found a traveller, much easier

Time wise much easier to save game at kingsbride,rest 12 hrs go outside town check at the crossroads there will be either be a traveling armorer,alchemist,shady traveller,bandits,the duel guy or some merch to hire etc.etc...if the one you want isn't there reload,rest again til one that sells it is there,with the update think just the shady one carries fire salt not sure,he might stab u heh

All the gems (rubies, emeralds, sapphires, diamonds) are just for selling.

The emeralds, in particular, can be sold at great deals to a certain shady fellow in Jabal (300 for small ones, 500 for regular ones).
