Some are (especially the dragon ones) some are more like "named" normal monsters who can drop anything.

Do you know there's this thing called RNG, or Random Number Generator?
I've slayed a Lich and just gain a Scroll of Greater Wisdom and 200 Gold, which is really underpayed considering a level 17-20 Boss with a damage of 38-46 plus 20 death damage

It's normal, just try again (I know that is a little bit harsh considering your preparation for the Boss, but you'll get used to it)

The loots are Random. Thy are generated when the boss is generated and not when you kill him. If he has only lesser items, you can kill him 1000 times and won't get anything rare or uncommon. Just try the next one ;)

I was disappointed by rumor boss (except dragons and liches) loot also for the same reason.

I understand RNGesus, as I'm sure the OP does as well, but I don't think something that requires so much time investment or effort should even have the *possibility* of dropping nothing but gold or gold + lesser loot like scrolls or small gems. There should be at least one piece of equipment.

There's a relatively small window of time those items would be useful, so I don't really worry about it too much anymore though.

To maximize a rumor boss encounter, get your XP bonus as high as you can. Kill everything on the way to the boss and kill everything on way back to town. Sell and move on. Most rumor bosses are very easy to kill. Too many unique drops from them would take away the uniqueness from quest bosses.

Had to bring this back up fast. Sry.

Still having issues with rumour bosses in general. The rumour says a location such as Great Inori, I search over the whole desert, nothing. The bosses still not dropping loot much better than normal stuff can buy at merchant. But having more trouble even finding most!!! Sigh

In most cases you can learn exact location(for example: in great Inori to the southwest), keep an eye on info in your journal to see if you can learn more. Many bosses don't have anything valuable, others can have even two excellent pieces of equipment. The most valuable items are in possession of the Liches. Moderately valuable items are in possession of the dragons. Other bosses have many mediocre items, and just a handful of useful, but still not very powerful items. Keep trying ;)

The rumour says a location such as Great Inori, I search over the whole desert, nothing.

1) An map location, such as Great Inori, would include the dungeons inside the map, such as the Irazur Tomb. If it's not in the desert, it's possibly inside the dungeon.

2) Unless the rumor location tells you the map name "Great Inori" don't conclude any rumor boss in the Inori dessert is in the Great Inori, as the Inori region includes several maps such as Great Inori, Northern Inori, Eastern Inori. Not sure if Golden Cove is lumped into it, but it seems to fit.

3) Rumor Hints are generally obtained as follows:
a) General Region (Northern Varsilia, Eastern Mercia, Wildlands, etc)
b) Single map (map name such as Northwest Sagar Forest)
c) Location in the map (such as South West corner by the hills) -or- the dungeon (Gorx Lair)
d) The location inside the dungeon (a room in the north west corner).
Note: Rumor bosses CAN be behind secret doors.

Each more-specific level of detail requires a new successful gossip role. As you get familiar with each type of monster and general hiding places, you might be able to have an educate guess at a few places to look. Or if you're strong enough, just starting clearing everything.

Yes and they did, for awhile.... Keep in mind the game has been under development for a long time. For much of the Beta phase, Rumor Bosses dropped the top tier stuff, and because of limited content, players had more time to hunt down Rumor Bosses as the world was smaller. As new areas and new equipment got added, the stuff Rumor Bosses dropped became less stand-out and the effort to get them seemed disproportionate to just getting a fixed loot item in a more challenging area. For example, Farming Rumor Bosses to get that awesome weapon made more since before one could just fight a few bull men for something better.

Re-assessing the frequency, and loot tables for Rumor Bosses is on the idea board.
