Hello All

Here is my guide for Rogues, enjoy!

First, you are very squishy (sad face). There is no second guessing that unless you deliberately load up on Endurance (counter productive in eyes) and Agility.

With that being said, we want to load up on Armor as fast as possible so we can survive inca worst case scenario.

Adding Trait points to Agility will offer +1 armor per point and will also provide a bonus (+1 damage) to light and ranged weapons. Also focus on Awareness, this will assist with quests greatly revealing many hidden things as well as providing bonuses to armor and ranged weapons. Add to intellect and personality sparingly for trap/gossip/perception assistance.
You can refer to the traits section under your character menu for more info on traits. Simply click the Blue circle under each trait for more info.

Now once you have some descent defensive points, you want to add in some skills.

The most important skill you can have in your arsenal is Stab and it even works if you have no weapon. This is a heavily amplified attack used to knock the majority of your enemies health down and typically is the first attack you will want to use. You will use this more than the rest.

Trap master is a great escape weapon as it slows the enemies who walk over it.

Stealth is also handy if you are low on health and want to avoid a fight (note: your companions are not typically stealthy and will not benefit from this skill, enemies will likely attack them as you sneak safely away) or if you want to do a sneak attack (which amplifies damage!).

Kick will do the same as trap master but at the same time push them back (good for bow users).

Sprint makes you run faster, does nothing for your battle, use at your own discretion.

Evasion is great currently as it voids damage for a short period of time, but rumor has it, this will be nerfed soon so don't rely on this too much.

If you like to use bows, add to your passive skill Archery for additional bonuses.

When it comes to weapons, stick with daggers and short swords (light weapons) and also bows so you can retain your bonuses to damage. We do not get bonuses for larger weapons.

Combat as a Melee Rogue:

First things first, make sure you have armor.
Next, make sure you never just brazenly run into an area, take your time, do not run into a group of enemies. This will be your worst nightmare, you will not survive.

Use stab to knock the enemies health and proceed to killing the enemy. If you start to take too much damage, run , drop a trap and continue to run. This is the best strategy for melee rogues. I would suggest the Evasion skill but it will not be as good for much longer.

If you have a high enough Stealth skill, you can sneak attack(multiplied damage) on isolated targets, just remember, stealth ends after you attacks. Typically the jig is up after your first strike.

The melee rogue gets easier to use around level 8, in my own opinion. This is your "Hard Mode" for Rogue. You might die often.

Melee/Range Rogue:

A great strategy is to quick slot a bow. Slow walk through the map until you see an enemy just in the line of sight. If they have not noticed you (!!!) fire your bow, it should do critical damage . Use your bow until the enemy is close and quickly switch to your dagger and follow up with your stab skill. This is the safest way to kill enemies as a Melee/Range Rogue and will result in fewer deaths.

Alternatively, if you do not wish to switch from bows, drop a trap and run or kick the enemy back and resume your barrage of arrows.

Pure Range Rogue:

This is the best method. You will rarely die, if done correctly.

When you start the game as a pure Range Rogue, add your free skill point to Stab.

But wait, why stab if I'm a Pure Range Rogue?

Simple Answer, you won't have a bow for a bit and Stab IS and ALWAYS will be an emergency skill with this build. It will stay level one for a good majority of your levels (Until you max out the other necessary skills at least).

Add your trait skill free point to Agility and if there is anything left over, Awareness. (We want to be able to see Traps and gain bonus to Range weapons).

Play the game using your knife at first, shouldn't be hard, goblins are not difficult as long as you are fighting only 1 or 2 at a time. Once you have the money, buy a bow. Then farm gold for armor (See below gold farming guide, Sagar Forest is a good place to do stock up on pelts).

From here moving forward, max your Archery skill as soon as possible. This adds bonus to your range weapons and provides a small chance to stun the target.

You will also want to get Grisselda as your companion as soon as possible, you need her to tank while you stay safely in the back.
She is 100% a must for this build.

Throw a point into Trap Master or Kick just as a defensive skill.

Once You max Archery, Start adding to Sneak Attack. If you shoot an enemy that has not seen you, with maxed Archery and a couple points in sneak attack, you will almost certainly Snipe them with one shot. BOOM HEAD SHOT.

Once you discover that method, you will die very very very rarely.

Utilize your terrain as defense (ie: fences, tree lines, rivers etc) and simply attack your enemy from complete safety with your bow. If the enemy navigates your defense, don't panic, they typically will not survive by the time they reach you if you chose adequate terrain for defense.

Here is the build for my Pure Range Rogue Currently at level 7.

Traits:
Strength 0
Endurance 0
Agility 4
Intellect 0
Awareness 3
Personality 1

Skills:
Stab - I
Stealth - x
Sneak Attack - II
Kick - I
Evasion - x
Trap Master - x
Archery - III
Sprint - x

x means no skill point added. I chose the snipers build, I will one shot just about everything and can do up to 35 damage in one hit.

Easy Gold Guide:

1. If it drops something, pick it up. Everything in this game is a source of income and can be sold to someone somewhere. Hint : If it cannot be sold to the armorer then it can probably be sold to an alchemist and visa-versa.

2. Wolves: their pelts are highly sought after by some friendly green men for quite a pretty penny, 25 for damaged and 100 for perfect pelts. Sagar Forest and Rhoneis Plains are prime places to farm pelts.

3. Gems: quite a common drop can be sold to alchemists. Orcs drop these fairly often. I save them now in hope of crafting uses later on.

4. See a crate? Open it. See a Barrel? Open it. See a chest? Open it. Just watch for traps . ;)

If anyone has any input to add post a comment below I will add it to the guide and credit your input.

Re: A beginners guide to Rogue-ing

Very useful info. At the moment I play as warrior, but now I know where to find info about rogue strategies.

The gold guide (especially the pelts portion) would still be quite useful regardless of class. Glad you liked it, if you play as a rogue feel free to add any input if you learn new methods.

Re: A beginners guide to Rogue-ing

I got interested in playing Rouge after witnessing Lv 4 Adaon stabbed an Elite Bandit to death while my lv 5 warrior takes her time with a regular Bandit. Lol

But I'll stick with warrior or cleric for now.

It's tricky but once you get a method it's an easy class haha. I think I'll make another pure range rogue next, really excited about the idea. Then cleric after. I just can't remember if bows were available in the first town or not.

Didn't even see that. I replied on my phone, auto-correct kicked in.

Auto-correct always bringing out the inner spelling nazi in us.

I did the same exact thing when I originally posted the topic lol. I was annoyed when I saw the typo.

Working on a Ranger pure now, seems promising so far. A lot less deaths.
