This has been debated before. Recommended levels could be useful, but as the game is meant to be open world, explore at your own risk the recommended levels could vary drastically. A cleric can tackle the crypts much earlier/easier, while a warrior can handle heavy armored areas sooner.
There is a known gap in viable content from around 7-10, but content being tested now has some parts suitable for ~lvl 8. Many people start doing TH quests to bridge this gap.
Recommended level is pretty obvious to me. If the monsters in that area are reasonably close in level to you, it seems to reason you can beat that dungeon with a few potions.
That's how my experience has gone with a Warrior, anyways.
