Question about grissenda AI

I invested 1 point in hitting in my current run but grissenda is almost never stunning anyone she seems to rarely use it so far even though it's the only active skill (it's still early days so I just purchased bash and cleave skills)
How does intelligence select what and when to use? I would like her to use skills more often, (I mean whenever possible,and if possible Choose the frequency she uses each one))

The AI with active skills can be a bit.... underwhelming?

Keep in mind the skill has a pretty long cooldown (16 seconds at level 1).

If you put Gris on "Attack everything in sight" she will be a more aggressive and use Active skills a little more frequently (but not always effectively).

If you put Gris on "Attack things nearby" she has a slight delay when an enemy reaches her before she attacks. That often makes the player the lead character. For melee players that often means Gris starts to use Bash as an enemy is killed by the player (the timing works out that way a lot), resulting in no observed skill use. You'll see that play out with weaker monsters a lot.

I think whirlwind is a much better skill for Gris. It has the same ability to break up log jams at doorways, etc, and can hit multiple enemies.

I stopped using Grissenda because of Castle Storme. I just cannot get thru the zillions undead blocking me from finding that darn secret door. The scrolls last just 3 seconds. No help there. I much prefer the cleric.

Yes, that secret door (the one from the graveyard to the crypt) is a bit hard to find. It's a marked increase in difficulty,

I stopped using Grissenda because of Castle Storme.

She is underwhelming there due to the crazy spike in difficulty but outside of Storme she remains useful. I typically prefer Hirge though.
