I found the one early on, but where are we supposed to find more?

There are two well known places that have a pearl, both on beaches, both in an oyster.

Where’s the one on the starting beach? I’ve been searching for it for way too long to finally get my quests finished lol

If I remember correctly, the exact location is just south of where you find the nearly drowned Captain. You need to follow the beach past shallow water a little bit. You'll find a skeleton with a spear, a old campfire, and an oyster that has a pearl inside it.

Do the pearls ever respawn? i.e. - if I sold them earlier, before I knew I needed one for a quest, can I get more before the full game arrives?

I don't think they currently respawn, but there might be more pearls in future areas that get added to the game.
Also, if the trader hasn't reset yet then you might still be able to buy it back.

Myrelle will sell pearls on next build. Expensive though!
