Squires are still weak in the early game but they become reasonably good after level 5.
They are also the only career currently in the game that gets 2 traits at level 6, as they increase both STR and PER.
And while PER might not be the most useful for a melee character, having an extra bonus trait point is always nice to have.

At that point they have 6 PER, which does open options about which career they can move into at level 7.
Squire/Charmer is still a build that I'm curious to try out.
In theory it could work but in practice I haven't been able to find a good stat distribution for it.

And there is a quest granting PER point.
I was thinking Squire/Initiate on the other hand. Such a perfect combination that I can't decide to go with either order or piety. Not to mention channeling and iron will talents.
