1) Most basic quest questions can be answered on the Wiki

2) The quest item, Dartos' Ring of Isolation, is required to trigger the quest completion log. At this time, there's no in-game way to retrieve sold or dropped quest items. There's been a discussion about having a mechanism in the future but that could be hard to code.

To my knowledge, the ring is a quest item and cannot be sold, not even by accident. So maybe you just stored it in your vault/house or one of your companions is wearing it?

I checked everywhere for it, unfortunately to no avail.
Im pretty sure I sold it because I remember wondering why I had another ring of isolation (not seeing the guys name in front of it) Could quest be restarted in future updates possibly?

Did you check the Tremadan Tower chest too, by chance?
