Opinions about character leveling system

After a few replays I realized that it is extremely unoptimal to push trait points into the "preferred" attributes. The system designed to force a player to distribute them mostly equally among all 6. But with this in mind, it seems that after each attribute receives 2 points (around level 10), character development stalls since each level gains only 2 trait points while 3 required. Since leveling requires such a lot of XP, at levels above 10 it takes a few levelups to accumulate enough points to pump a single attribute.

IMO, the amount of trait points gained per level needs to increase gradually, so that each levelup provide enough points for attribute increase. Since we start the game with 4 TP at hand, then at level 2 and level 3 we should receive 1 point only, at levels 4-9 - two points, 10-15 - three, 16-21 - four, 22-27 - five and so on.

I think this will make the leveling system more smooth, slowing the boost at low levels and eliminating the stall at higher ones.

Also, I suggest to remove the difference of TRAIT points gain for a main hero and the companions making them equal this way.

As for the skill points, it makes sense that main hero recieves more SP per level since he may gain an advanced skills later on. But similar rules should apply - at higher levels more SP per level should be gained and just one per level at low levels.

What do you think?

Keep in mind that trait raising tomes are scattered around the game, making Trait levels subject to both leveling up and progress in the game.

Yes, there's an increasing investment to raise a trait, but that doesn't push towards a well balanced character as players continue to build lopsided beasts. The trait point requirement does offer balance and provides a counter balance to lopsided builds.

As it stands now, a player can choose to invest heavily into a primary trait or to invest more eveningly. There's pros and cons to both approaches.

The 5-2 method seems to be popular and reachable around Level 10. One primary trait is raised to 5, all other traits raised to 2. Doable through levels and found tomes. Gives a little bit of everything and still favors the primary trait. Of course, player approaches very. For example, all STR and END for 2-H warriors provides a combat beast that has the worst quest options (no mental traits) and will step on every trap, but hey, with 800 or so HP, who cares about traps...
