Oof, bringing the cost up to 8 is understandable but doubtful I'll be able to beat the top of the tower with that change, anyway wouldn't it be more accurate to make it something like 2d8 instead as right now it ends up being less than double as they're both including spell power, or make it add twice the spell power.

Description is wrong, Word heals 6+3d6, not 4d6.

nivaria's hand:
-touch
-2d6+SP (average 7+SP)
-cost 4.

nivaria's word:
-ranged
-6+3d6+SP (average 16.5+SP)
-cost 8.

it is more or less twice as good, ranged, and in case of a bad roll still heals 9 + SP, while hand can still heal 2+SP.

Even with that change, I feel like with the latest changes it has changed it so Nivaria's hand is the better spell to use in explorer mode, while Nivaria's word is the better spell to use in the heat of combat.

Because if you have SP 3 (which wouldn't be that abnormal for a spellcaster) you would get the following in explorer mode:

Nivaria's hand:
2d6 + 3 (average 10) for 4WP, so an average of 20 for 8WP
With as added benefit that if you have a high roll then you can use your second casting on another member.

Nivaria's word:
6 + 3d6 + 3 (average 19,5) for 8WP

So this means that at Nivaria's hand gets a better average healing from 3SP, and it gets even better with higher SP.
On top of that, Nivaria's hand triggers Hand of Mercy twice, giving you a free 1d4 every time.

So the actual average for a 3SP character with Hand of Mercy would be:

Nivaria's hand:
2d6 + 3 + 1d4 (average 12,5) for 4WP, so an average of 25 for 8WP

Nivaria's word:
6 + 3d6 + 3 + 1d4 (average 22) for 8WP

This doesn't mean that Nivaria's word doesn't have its place anymore. During combat it is still able to give the highest burst of healing in a single action and it is ranged.
But now after the change, for exploration mode, Nivaria's hand is better because it provides the best heal per WP ratio.

it is intentional that Hand still has its uses, I want all spells to remain useful, even Rank I ones.

still, take into account that Hand becomes only marginally better out of combat, but Word is exceptionally better in combat.

Hold on, I made a mistake in my calculations.
Because your statement reminded me that you already have a feature in the game that makes rank 1 spells still useful, which is the decreased WP cost if you increase a discipline.

This means that the calculations would be the following (With 24WP being the first point where the 2 cross)

Nivaria's hand:
2d6 + 3 + 1d4 (average 12,5) for 3WP, so an average of 100 for 24WP

Nivaria's word:
6 + 3d6 + 3 + 1d4 (average 22) for 8WP, so an average of 66 for 24WP

This makes Nivaria's hand substancially better out of combat.
Though still Nivaria's word is the better choice in combat, so you are right that both spells have their place in the game.
Still, I do personally feel like you nerfed Nivaria's word a bit too much.
