(Minor) Why don't inns cure poison?

I slept with a poisoned character in an inn, but after resting, the character was still poisoned with the same duration as before sleeping for so many hours.
That seems very strange to me and not working like poison should.
As it is a timed thing, I would expect poison to be fully removed when doing a full rest.

good catch. Poison and other over-time effects must either be resisted and run its course , or kill the character when trying to rest. Added to the list.

or kill the character when trying to rest
How would that work?
Because poison gets removed when a character gets knocked down.
And all wounds from being knocked down are healed when resting, so I would expect that resting still fully heals a character in that case.
I don't see how characters would end up being killed from resting while poisoned.

You are absolutely right. Inn should cure damage effects except on END 1 characters, but I might just decide to cure tgose too.

In many rpg games, to my best knowledge, being poisoned should mean that poisoned characters cannot get healed in any way, potions, bandages, stitches or warm bed, unless the poison is cured. Last time one of my characters got poisoned with 3 stacks, I rested with foraging&hunting option in a camping place and his health bar kept going up and down for two days and finally I stopped resting and let him die by poisoning.

Poison or other attrition damage blocking healing is very much a new school mechanic brought over from action games and their heal to full after not taking damage for X duration mechanics.

The old school method is just let the damage and healing butt heads until one emerges victorious.

Well it would be 1 end on old school and 1 or 2 on cruel. (though getting such a character back to an inn alive with much in the way of poison stacks would be an accomplishment if they are not a pilgrim with fortitude 2/3.)

Also I don't recall you responding to my old suggestion of making poison keep rolling it resistance checks until either the poison is gone or it fails a check. Because otherwise poison would be able to effectively bypass very high resistances by the simple fact that only one stack can disappear per turn. 12 stack poison would do 132 damage to a target with 100% vitality resist. 22then 20,18,16 etc...

Poison currently works somewhat like that, you keep rolling Vitality resistance every combat round or every minute or so outside combat. A success removes 1 power from poison, or 2 if passed by 30, or 3 if passed by 60. Before even attempting the check, it deals damage equal to power x2.

One thing I considered is poison killing a character instead of causing a wound. But after much consideration, I like more wounds than reloads.

If poison would have instakilled then it would have needed to be severely nerfed first.
Because right now, it's very easy for a single Yaksa scout to apply 12 poison in a turn, which can knock down even the most battle hardened tank down fast if it isn't cured quickly.
So I'm glad that you didn't chose for that, because having it be instakill would make it a very annoying mechanic.

So poison is meant to damage characters that have 100% resistance? Like the rock boys and lifeless enemies?

well, you got the initial chance to resist the effect, so no.

also, I am considering capping the power of poison to 8 or 10.
