Trying to get two horns to complete part of the main question and I've killed over 30 of them without a horn dropping. If I get a drop it is a 2 handed axe. Is this normal?
Yes, all of the drops are random, so sometimes you do have to kill a bunch to get a couple horns.
I would concentrate on getting axes to sell, then you will get more horns
