I start playing this game just for Mage class after very long break. (i like to play this game but there's no classes to suit my tastes. well rogue can do this but evasion as active spell hurt my mind and i give up).
And i'm worried about my mage future cause...there's almost no scales for spells. Ye lightning have good scales but i check bestiary and there's a lot of enemys wich have very high elemental resistance mean that your most powerful skills can't do damage to them most of the time ( i just dreamin about fighting with enemys wich have 200 hp and 50% res to fire\lightning! 70 mana just for 70 dmg. Wow!) . What the hell? And how can i beat them?
Also something about mage skills:
1)Lightning Bolt} Great skill but mana cost not reasonable at high lvls. Spells can't crit (i don't see any) and scales ONLY with level so why the heck i should lvl up him to level 4 just to add 10 dmg and 10% chance to stun? And increase manacost x2? Wut?
2) Fireball} Well if only this spell can expode at the end of his trail. Gosh i wish that soooo much. I'm just tired of counting how many times i miss this skill for no reason. Also why lightning can stun enemys but fire spell don't burn them? At least at direct hit? Pls?
3) Ice Storm} I guess this skill can surprise sometimes but most people will ignore him. I don't want any changes but...well it will be so cool if this skill creat ice storm AROUND mage and follow him like an aura, hurting people (not as much as now)and also slow ther movespeed and attackspeed. Sound good right? Or op? Idk. I only know that we don't need any RNG in skills especialy when mages already can die alot.
4) Mage Armor} Perfect. Even worth if you lvl up this skill just once. Take my respect for this one.
5) Wand Mastery} Idk. It's useful if you can build decent dmg from simple attacks but most of the time pushback don't prevent anything like melee hits and ranged shots. So if you have partner this will not protect them, if you don't have...youre better run and wait for cooldowns.
6) Staff Mastery} Same as Wand Mastery. Well you will have scales from that skill for simple attacks and it's great but can you build mage as simple attacks oriented class? If you can...why should you do that? Idk.
7) Lesser Summoning} Useless. Can you buff him to make him an aura guy wich can give mages a buch of random buffs? Otherwise he's useless. If you rly wanna detect things just buy a scroll or take Adaon.
8) Mana Surge} 10\10. No regrets.

Advanced skills
Don't check yet. If you know anything about them pls write them for me. Maybe i just write there for nothing just cause i don't see full image and panic for nothing.

Overall i find a rly nice solution for this problem:
Make characters able to ignore 5% of any resistance for any Int they have. This will make mages a little more powerfull in late game (if they need it) and also people will happy to find Int items even if they don't use Int.

So:
Let me know if i wrong. Pls.
Also wanna here some opinions from ppls who reach at least lvl 13 on mage or more.

Well, it's your opinion, so you can't be -wrong- but you can be a bit premature.

First, I agree with your harsh view of Ice Storm. It's capable of a lot of damage with a very quick cool down, but the randomness makes it very difficult to use. Sometimes it works as an emergency spell when you need to cast and run. Sometimes.

Second, you haven't looked at Advance Skills yet? Okay, you're in for a treat when you get there. The Mage class is vulnerable at low levels (read, you're going to die a lot for stupid things like Level 1 goblins, and killing yourself with your own fireball). BUT, somewhere around level Level 7 to Level 10, you should start to see the tide tipping in your favor. Still physically weak but you should start having a bit of a powerhouse on your hands. After that, it only gets better.

Best piece of advice is to think of the Mage less as just a new class, and more of the entire game being new. The way the Mage class interacts with the world and combat is very different from the other classes.

Baby steps and you'll get an Archmage on your hands.

Oh, late game mages have no need for extra power. High level mages, Archmages so to speak, make the Arc look like a petting zoo. A few well placed skills, and advanced skills make the Arc a playground for high level mages.

True story, I died more times in Lannegar Valley than I did in the Arc. As the in-game descriptions says, mages start off vulnerable but grow to be powerful.

My understanding is someone in the Loreseekers Group is working on updating the Wiki with the new content, including Mage Skills. Given the holiday and new year, might be a slight delay.

That or those Loreseekers have locked themselves in the library drinking friguld rum again. The drinking games those guys played are banned in half the kingdoms and would make a Batrax blush.

Can anyone list the guild membership advanced skills for Mages? I saw the stuff in the towers already.
Arcanist, Disintegrate, and Earth Mastery are the three skills taught by Ilemma for guild members only. See the preliminary Skill list on the Wiki. The new ones are easily recognizable by the missing icons. ;)
