Am looking for a new gaming laptop,hopefully for around 1000-1500$, Any suggestions?

Are laptops *really* good for gaming? I ask out of ignorance, really, but my own experience is they eventually begin having ventilation problems after the first year, and when they overheat they automatically slow down for cooling.

No expert here, last laptop I bought was back in 2009, heh.

My problem with them is that you can often build a gaming desktop PC (which will be better than the gaming laptop) and buy a cheaper laptop for the price of a good gaming laptop. Seems like a waste.
