Killed enemy, error: inventory full message, no drop

I saw this today whilst butchering minotaurs. I killed a minotaur and it said that error message in red but there was no drop from the minotaur. I killed another couple of minotaurs who also dropped nothing, but no more error messages. I'll try to replicate - you obviously have to have a full inventory at the time.
