Im still a bit confused about the resistances part
is the Sun icon a resistance against spirits? or what?

Short Answer: The sun icon is resistence to stun and paralysis, with come confusion over exactly how the game mechanic works.
Longer answer: Initially, a range of mental effects were planned for the game, but Stun and Paralyze are the only two that made it into the game.
The Wiki page tries to explain exactly how the spirit resistance works but it seems not only is the page in error, it's not really clear how it exactly works. Namely, it appears you need to have at least 50 spirit resistance to have any benefit, but that is unclear.
