Hi all, I would like to know how you play the Price of Freedom quest.

I have found myself avoiding that quest because I don't know if it will have any impact on the game later on.

I don't like the idea of killing the Varannari outside Jabal, and none of the rewards look essential to me (the cloak of survival is nice but there is better stuff of the same category in the game).

If I help the varannari, the damage in term of reputation with Mercia is huge, while killing the patrol provides only a small impact over the Varannari.

Probably just persuading them to do nothing and scaring them is the best option overall.

How do you resolve the quest and why?

Its funny, when i did this quest for the first time, i was starring on the screen aswell for quite some time, while thinking on the possible outcomes, before picking one finally.

What helped me - If you give your toon a certain attitude, on how he/she behaves ( Is it a justice warrior or a selfish powerdriven nature) decisions like these get much easier in the future ;)

Lol, thanks guys but the quest giver sucks. Even by a role playing perspective I never like Mercia yet helping the varannari is not worthy of the trouble even if I am more sympathetic with them rather than with slavery. I think I will leave it pending till the next main update.
The point is that I cannot really see any benefit coming from high reputation or penalty in the opposite case.

This is one of those troublesome quests: I tend to go for the option of convincing the people to leave as it avoids a negative Reputation hit but I used always go for saving the girl. Not sure if a later update will have depend on having saved the girl (which would be a good role play plot item).

In theory, you can earn back the lost reputation from Merica and Jabel through Townhall quests (even through I only seem to get offered slave hunting quests from Jabel, which lower reputation with the indigenous people of the area).

Saving the girl? Which girl? Maybe I have forgot the dialogues.

Anyway some of the townhall quests are about punishing human rebels and deserters so it is possible.

The only reason I feel sad about killing those green-skinned scum is inability to get that slave girl as a reward.
