Hirge vs. Grissendia as companion for summoner mage?

Is Hirge absolutely superior to Grissendia as a companion for a summoner type mage? I just got my first advanced summon skill - Ice Mastery - and respecced to get rid of all the elemental blasting skills I'd been using until now and raise my Ice Mastery to Level II. I've been playing through several different quests with both companions, and it's clear that as long as you keep Hirge's Mana pool up you'll need to summon new elementals less often and use fewer healing potions with her than Grissendia. On the other hand, once she runs out of Mana Hirge sucks as a tank.
In general, I think I'd rather rely on Grissndia rather than Hirge as my companion if that's possible. Firstly, as a wand wielder, I split my stats between Per, Int, and Agi, and I like hogging all the caster stat items for myself. Also, as a matter of roleplaying (as opposed to min-maxing) my character likes Grissendia more than Hirge. My character is heroic, honorable, and enjoys helping the downtrodden, and as a result he has done quite a bit of work for the Church of the Three, and has gained their respect. But (unlike myself IRL) my character is only semi-religious. He is a mage and prefers to see the Three as powerful magical beings rather than gods per-se. Hirge's talk of visions grates on his nerves, though not as much as Andon's selfishness. Grissendia and her noble's honor is something he is entirely in sympathy with. In terms of the middle and late game how much of a disadvantage am I at when playing with Grissendia rather than Hirge?

If statistic data has any weight, Grissenda is the top choice for Mages.

Just pick the companion that makes you enjoy the game more from a lore/roleplaying point of view; all of them are viable assuming you know how to make use of them. You'll be able to complete the game just the same.

I think you should use hirge as a companion because she helps your golem so you use less mana and you don’t need her as a tank, your golem will be the best tank so you don’t need a tank companion.

I haven't tried summoner build for mage yet but I'm interested to hear if anyone's tried pairing Adaon with an archer build along with mage summoner. If Iron golem is such a good tank, would the combined ranged damage of an archer + mage make enemies go down like flies? I realize this sacrifices Hirge's heals, but if the best defense is a good offense, I wonder if this pairing would be successful. This would also eliminate the issue of the golem and companion getting in each other's way in narrow spaces.

Just wait for the next update. Hirge became a beast with the new advanced skills!

I'm not sure what David plan for Adaon, so that discussion is maybe obsolet very soon :)

Besides, I prefer Hirge, fighting crowds or bosses is too much for one golem, with healing he stays longer alive. And without him you'll get a big problem, 2 glass canons is hard to play

Yes! I agree with you, I always use Hirge to support healing and it helps a lot.
Opinion:
I did not like Hirge with some of these new skills ... she could have battle prayer ... and no duel + heavyhand (both from the guild of the warriors)

I disagree. Combining different guilds would be a gamebreaker. So it has to be a paladin or supporter build. And paladin (Warrior) is a better choice for a companion. I love the double cleric build, will replay it soon, it's just awesome!

And what do you think about Grissenda's advanced skills? since, one of the main ones is being used now in Hirge.

If I have to guess, body development, elements wards, duell, precision strike and heavy hand. She's a pure warrior. But Hirge's story fits better to paladin build

her master abandoned her and she left her "family".

The most interesting question is what will happen with Adaon! Bow or assassin?! Adaon with rapid fire and precision shot would be really awesome (also poison mastery)
