Choose Hirge as companion, you need her as a bait. She is immortal as long as she have mana(lots of mana potion) while you do the damage behind Kalugru.

And also Potion of Lesser Restoration, compare to mana potion, it is far better for it restores 50% of your HP and MP but less frequent to be found.

And no, don't spend your savings for Mana Potions, you can get those Mana Potions in Ashen Cape and Ashen Wastes were Ashen Minotaurs lives. They also drop high quality equipments best for selling, more equipments more money

You can also apply some of your tactical knowledge into this battle...
Going straight to the point, Just hit the 'Prince of hell' a lot and escape and just run around to restore your HP if hit and then all of a sudden, do bash, whirlwind & slash, do some hits quickly and run asap away from him but not so far... Try this again & again
Moreover, equip hirge with good armors, weapons, etc...
If your companion dies somehow, just go away from them, leaving them alone and attract the PRINCE, they should attain consciousness then and then have them with yourself as quickly as possible for assistance.
Just make sure you have enough mana potion, Greater HP potion & potion of speed...
Note that through this method, you may be able to kill him but it will consume some time.

I defeated KALAGRU with Adaon using the same tactic, even with lesser armors (but with adamantite greatsword & adamantite longsword), the same also helped me with the battle against THE UNDERMOTHER, killing it.
