High level enemies aggro is bugged (Lich)

Hello, this my first post after about 50 hours of gameplay. I am not sure if this is a bug or was intentional, but I've noticed high level enemies aggro acts wierd sometimes; especially the Lich in the mausoleum. No matter how much aggro my companion has on him, he attacks me every time if I am within melee range. His attack animation would start like he is going to hit my companion, but he turns around at the last second and hits me instead. I play a rogue, and it's impossible to land any flanks while this is happening. If I time it right, I can step behind him the instant he deals damage to my companion, and land a flank. While this works sometimes, it is incredibly inefficient, and I still take damage from him right after I hit him. Any insight would be appreciated, thanks.

I''m not sure this is a bug as I think the Lich is designed to be difficult to flank as part of the Lich's status as the toughest Rumor Boss (save for Clerics taking on Red Dragons).

It very well may be a glitch, because I just beat him using Hirge to summon an earth golem. The golem held aggro until he died, allowing me to finish him off in a couple of hits.
