Fire STAFF for high lvl mage (lvl 17-25)

Hey fellow players and support. Looking for a good place to loot a good fire staff for Mage class. I'm currently lvl 17. Wanting to travel to the trollphens area and need a weapon with fire damage that's worth the trip specifically for mage. I use two handed staff. Anyone got any good ideas for a possible loot place for this type of weapon by chance? Thanks

The Magma Staff can be a pain to get to drop so the Caduceus of Scorching might be the better option, but I'm blanking where's it's sold (Freetown, Icemist?).

Alas... someone who has the info ready is welcome to share it..

Check the NPC Merchants, we turned off the auto-location feature of the wiki that is why some of the equipment individual pages doesn't have the info on where to find the item. The reason for turning it off is because of the caching in the wiki which sometimes cause unwanted connection failure to the database, for more precise explanation ask David and MikeB about it.

The wizard tower outside of Freetown sells a fire staff... So does one of the traders in New Garand

Also, keep in mind that to kill a troll, only the death blow has to be fire damage. Using non-fire spells (bolt etc) to lower their HP way down than finishing them off with a fireball works. Of course, you have to make sure the fire ball does the killing blow.

Per the Wiki there are only two fire staves, I thought there was one more(?). Guess you're stuck hunting rumor bosses to get the Magma Staff.

I'm not sure you should even bother hunting for the magma staff - no idea what your build is, but the damage increase between the two staffs doesn't seem to justify 2 extra mana/attack unless you a) don't rely primarily on staff damage or b) are more interested in maximum dps than efficiency. I've just used Cadeucus of scorching for everything - you can buy this in several spots, but most conveniently in the Freetown mage tower, essentially one zone over from the trollfens.

The fire staff is worth it. Most mobs in the game, Especially the undead, are weak against fire. The scorching staff is nice, but if you really want your magma staff. Farm it from rumor bosses or go to dungeons where fire type mobs gather. Thats where i got my magma staffs. This is somewhat true to the other greatstaffs as most of the elemental great staffs i have are found in their respective elemental dungeons.

Well not for First Winter, the Lich is not in the icy dungeons except Desecrated Ruins and Nilorth Cave for rumor boss.

Magma greatstaff was my first badass staff that I got. I still remember it clearly when I got this piece of weapon from urcrymdrax. If u happen to max out your arcanist skill this will be one of ur utility weapons aside from staff of the arcanist and tesla rod. Otherwise go for caduceus of scorching coz extra mana usage from it will cause u trouble when u least expect it
