Fire Mage w Wand, viable?

A wide ranges of mage builds have beaten the game, including the fire + wand build (which is just a subset of the elementalist + wand build).
As for respec-ing for the ark, I'm not a fan of planned character resets. And once you get shock wands do a hefty amount of damage so you might not even need lightning bolt.
Iron Golem are pretty durable in the ark, save for the red balls. Those kill Iron Golems pretty fast. Lessor Summon 1 can't be killed by Steel Wizards. They do 100% shock damage. It's kind of cute watching the big bag machine boss get killed (very slowly) by a tiny little blue guy.
