Donate, yes. For items, no.

There is a button for donations on the main load screen. While the developer appreciates any donation, he is against pay to play/win mechanics.

So this seems to be more of an issue with how you are attacking the game. It is intended to be hard and thought must be used to make due with the limited resources in the beginning.

So recoveries are regenerated when sleeping at inns (12hr rest will fully recover them).

The hirelings are meat shields, plain and simple. In order to really help your journey, look into helping a woman named Grissenda in North Bluemist River. If you help her,
she becomes an invaluable permanent companion you can equip and feed potions.

As for potions, it is better to save them for tough opponents or spots where you ganged up unexpectedly. To conserve potions, approach any new area with the thought the first few trips in will probably result in death. Your goal is to map out the area and figure out what is important. Once you have that figured out, use your recoveries and skills wisely to accomplish what you need to without using any potions. Then sleep at an inn and do anything else you may want. I have made it Level 11 without using a single healing potion so its not that tough to use them sparingly.

Hope some of this helps get you past your frustrations. If you are having a tough time with a quest, you can also check out the wiki which has full quest walkthrus.

This thread has been locked as the matter of whether players can buy better gear has been dealt with many times in other threads. When you purchase the full game, thats the only purchase you ever make - all future additions to the game are covered in that purchase, you wont be asked to spend yet more money to get an advantage, it doesnt work like that.

While there may be the option at some point in the future to buy extra content, such as if we ever get off this continent and explore the rest of the world, this isnt a game that you can win through copious amounts of cash.
