Does character level dictate drops?

Starting farming frost bow for lvl5 archer at irazur and nothing good seemed to drop. But as soon as I dinged to lvl6 all sorts of different loot started showing up, and not long after I got the bow. So is it me, or the mobs that jumped up a couple lvls that drop better loot?

Level does not directly affect loot drops. However it affects the spawn tables, and different monsters have different loot. In particular, in Irazor and surroundings, at certain level you get the strong skeleton types which can have the good drops.

Thanks for the explanation! I did notice the lvl 7 skeletons would stun me, whereas the lvl 5 were mere punching bags
