This sounds like this is related to a rare, but known issue with iPhones. Something to do with a recent software update not playing nice. You can see previous reports on the matter here.

Please disable all the game sounds (turn to minimum) and try again.

Let's us know if that works, or doesn't work.

Wow, that is an odd bug. I just started playing yesterday (iOS 14.2) and rebooted, saved game to cloud/deleted app, restored app, same issue.

The sound fix *worked* perfectly! Thanks for the help, now I have to go see why they drugged me...
