The Wiki can answer almost all of your basic questions such as the one you propose above. Blood Thunder is a bit tricky as it tends to be a random drop from a few enemies . The slightly less powerful Thunder can drop from Orc Warbands, which are random encounters.

Spirit Breaker is good not just due to DPS but due to the fact that Spirit damage isn't resisted by anything (with a rare exception or two) so it's reliable in the sense you don't need to swap it out very often.

Things that have resistance to spirit damage: Ancient Guardians, Animated Wastes, Minotaur (all variations), Carrion Eaters, Devourers, Coral Snakes, Dragon Priest, Earth Elementals, Giant Chieftains, Giant Mambas, Great Manticores, Greater Demons, Hill Giants, Ice Giants, Ice Warlords, Insane Wizards (red and blue), Iron Golem, Iron Guardian, Kurg Elder, Kurg Silverback, ..... The list keeps going... Oh. gawd, the list has gotten so long.

Okay, so there's a decent amount of things that have SOME spirit resistance, but most of those have comparable or better resistance to other elements. But NOTHING IS HEALED by Spirit damage... So

Spirit Damage is a good all purpose damage type but it shouldn't be viewed as a cure all for weapon damage.

OK OK... what I should have said is: there is little with significant resistance to Spirit.

(The rare exception I alluded to being Dimension Parasite).

So Acid Element resists Spirit at 100. But that's almost the same as its resistance to Fire and Ice and Shock (90) and much lower than the 250 resistance to Death and Toxic. Ancient Guardian has similar low-levels of resistance to Spirit, Fire, Ice; but massive (250) resistance to Shock, Death, Toxic. And so on with the Elements and Constructs. Ashen Warlord has a slight resistance to Spirit (along with Fire, Shock, Death) but has large resistance to Cold and Toxic. So OK it's not zero Sprit resistance, but its typically in the lowest-range of the creatures possibly many resistances; I mean looking at the Minotaurs they have SOME resistance to ALL SIX elements; but Spirit is in the lowest range of them, not the absolute lowest but reliably in the lowest. Yes, Coral Snake has a slight resistance to Spirit. A resistance of 11, so the extra damage drops from +5 to +4.

From now on I'll be saying nothing (except an exception) has any significant resistance to Spirit whereas lots have some kind of high resistance to something and you won't need to have a Wiki open next to you to see which is which. Why would be expecting massive Death resistance on a Vorator? Why does an Ancient Guardian, Iron Golem and Iron Guardian have massive resistance to Shock... but a Clockwork Guardian does not? Is a player supposed to know that?

The Greater Demon is another great example. It is healed by Fire and has massive (200) resistance to Shock, Death and Toxic. But only 40 resistance to Spirit. It has no resistance to Ice (but no vulnerability either) so the Spirit hammer will deal +4 instead of +5 damage. So that's not a perfect min/max, but it's so little it's not worth having six weapons in your inventory and swapping them in and out all the time.

Or the Varannari Hag. She resists Spirit, it's 30. But that's a lower resistance than the other 5 elements. (Not that they have high resistances to anything, a surprisingly low resistance to Death).

Also: Spirit weapons tend to have large Spirit bonuses and are typically at the upper-end of the scale in terms of their Physical damage (and frequently other bonuses) certainly for weapons that are readily available mid-game rather than late stage.
