What is the difference between the blessed version of cleric items and their ordinary equivalents? What does the blessing do?

Eg: Blessed Chainmail leggings vs Chainmail leggings

Blessed items bestow a mana bonus to the cleric. The blue circle +2 etc.

Wheras the normal items do not.
