Are the extra shards useless??

Hi, guys. I have a question.

The quest, 'Shards of Fate' needs 12 black shard.
And we can get them over 12, right?


(If my interpretation is right,) I read on Wiki that the extra shards from rumor bosses will not drop anymore,
but still can get shards from particular named bosses.

In my situation,
I have already collected 11shards from some named bosses and some rumor bosses.
And still, I have chances to get more shards from the bosses that I've not kill yet.

If I get more shards, Can I use these extra shards in the mirror of Tredman Tower?
(I guess they probably can't work anymore, but I want to know about this clearly )

Particular named bosses will no longer drop black shards. Any extra shards will disappear, and cannot be used for anything. Once the quest is complete it is impossible to obtain black shards ever again

If I get more shards, Can I use these extra shards in the mirror of Tredman Tower?

There's no in-game reason to collect more than 12 black shards. Once the 12th black shard is placed into the mirror, all shards in the game disappear and no enemies or chests will drop a shard, even if it's from one of the guaranteed drop locations. This means, even if a player stockpiles twenty or thirty black shards in a storage chest, they all just disappear once the 12th shard is placed into the mirror.
