About the Staff mastery skill

Does staff mastery effect also increase death damage or just normal damage?
My new Staff of the Dead Kings don't do normal damage, just death damage and i'm not sure if this skill works for this Staff...

Yes, staff mastery increases damage of all staves, even ones with pure elemental damage.

I -think- the original plan was for staff master to only increase the physical damage part of a staff. You''ll see that's how it works for most staves in the game. However, with elemental only weapons, the extra damage gets added to the elemental part. It makes elemental-only weapons a little more powerful than intended. The same thing seems to happen with critical hits. A mixed damage weapon will have it's physical damage increased with elemental damage the same, elemental-only seem to do critical hits with elemental damage.

The same happens with the three elemental wands. It makes them very effective.
