I am also a mage (level 29). I beat them using a fireball. One was all it took to vaporize both. Kind of wish we could go back for a daily challenge once we became champion. Maybe a dragon or two. or a dimensional parasite. Perhaps go through the bestiary. Keep increasing the difficulty.

I think there may be a slight bug in the Colosseum. I have a lv 29 mage (with Bag of Holding). After defeating the opponent, my items are returned to me, but the bag of holding has vanished, along with its contents. I reloaded the prior save, so no harm done. But did I miss something or is...
