DISCLAIMER First I want to clarify that this isn't about cheating, tampering or exploiting the game mechanics so it is within the forum rules. I'm not looking for any bugs or glitches to advance myself. This is merely about testing the limits of the game.

Make something idiot-proof, and life will build a bigger idiot

I have decided that I'm going to try to be that bigger idiot by doing things no normal player would do and maybe even "break" the game because of it. I have already thought of a series of "tests" to see how long it'll take until I manage "break" something.

First test: Killing Adaon

Everybody knows about this annoying thief robbing you at the very start of your journey and slowing down your progress a bit. There is no way to avoid this robbery though... or is there? Adaon can't really rob you when he's dead, can he?

In this test I'll try to kill Adaon by not fighting any creatures on my path in the beginning but letting Adaon handle them. Maybe he'll just get knocked down and recovers afterwards like a companion? Or maybe he'll stay dead and the game will be broken? Let's test it out.

RESULTS: Failure

After trying a few times I managed to send almost the entire horde on Adaon and... he managed to fight them all off alone. He has a surprising lot of health for a rogue and can kill the critters with ease.

David won this round, but I have more "gamebreaking" plans for the future. I'll return!

There is only one way to "kill" him (OK there are 2 ways)

1. Let this piece of $CENSORED rot in the cage for all eternity

2. Destroy the whole world by joining the forsaken

;)

I promised I would return and here I am again with another test. This one will be a bit different and more lore breaking, trying to do something that doesn't make sense with the lore of the game.

Second test: Gathering too many shards

This test is about the iconic quest where you need to gather the black shards to create the Eye of Tol. You only need 12 to succeed, so most players only gather that many shards. Maybe one or two more if they find another one on accident. After all, you only get experience from gathering those 12 shards, so why bother trying to collect more? They'll only take up space in your vaults or chests that can be used for better stuff.

So of course, that's what I'm trying to do. I remember Tremadan saying that the shard is broken in 30 pieces, but with the chance to find it from rumor bosses, it's possible to gain in theory an infinite amount of them (or at least as many as I can store) So I will try to gather as many shards as possible and see if David has some kind of protection in place to avoid this problem.

RESULTS: Failure

Outsmarted by David again, before I even managed to gather 30 shards. I created a new character to check to be sure that it's 30 shards I need and noticed he didn't say "It was broken in 30 pieces". What he really says is "It was broken in over 30 pieces". This means that no matter how many shards I collect, lorewise it would still technically be correct.

But I'm not defeated yet. I still have two ideas left that could possible work. One with a low chance of actually working, but if it works it could be very game breaking. And another lore based one that but this one has a high chance of actually succeeding. You'll hear from me soon again!

I am really intrigued!

It took me a bit longer this time but here I am with the idea that inspired this whole "Outsmarting David" post. The one where I'm very certain that it will actually work.

Thirth test: Convincing lady Xidar

When exploring around with one of my character I noticed that lady Xidar has knowledge about the shards and the Gate. She talks that she knows you are a Deep lord but of course at this point in time your character is still clueless about everything and think she is just talking nonsense.

But then I thought, what would she say if my character isn't as clueless about this world anymore? What if my character defeated the Forsaken, blew up the gate and then returned to lady Xidar? But this is one of my biggest tests yet, since it requires me to make a new character, play through the entire game while skipping this easy quest that gives me a shard and one of the few INT items that isn't exclusive to mages. Only an idiot would put so much time in trying this. So that's exactly what I did.

RESULTS: Victory

Well, it seems like David didn't foolproof his game after all. He didn't expect that someone would skip a quest that can be completed at level 9 and is very easy to find until they are level 22 and completed the entire game. I win after all.

Here you can see that I didn't go with the quest until I was level 22, Decurion Sargos has been waiting at this gate for all these months.

And then here it is. My victory. The thing David didn't expect. My only dialog option here is to say that I'm "just an adventurer" even after winning a debate with the Forsaken about the Gate and my heritage a day ago.

I'll be honest, I didn't expect David to have some hidden lore hidden here, nor do I expect him to change that now. After all, nobody before me was stupid enough to skip the good rewards from this quest until after beating the Forsaken. And probably nobody after me will do this again. But I just wanted to test the limits of the system. And see if I would be able to outsmart David.

On a sidenote, I couldn't even test the other idea I had since those dumb red floating orbs just wouldn't get the right angle to go through the door so after half an hour I gave up on that one. I might try it again someday in the future if I have more patience but it won't be for anytime soon.

Impressive victory! Indeed there can be holes like this one here and there, but I think they can only be attained after a very dedicated effort...

In the escorting lisperix quest I always lure the bandit chief away before the encounter starts so I can fight him and his men seperately

I remember another one.

Andrys storme

if you do the temple of blood quest before three vs eleven, his dialogue in the castle of storme will be different, not so aggressive but still a jerk.

however, if you killed him in the castle of storme, when you come back to the newgarand temple, that jerk is still inside temple, even though he is supposed to be dead.

there is another bug is that if I didn't go to the kitchen when I am doing the temple of blood quest, the next time I went back to grind the dungeon, the poor maid radia is still there holding her last breath. the body is gone but still gonna trigger the dialogue. Poor loyal maiden radia, she stayed half dead for weeks only to warn me.
