I used to be into LARP in a big way back in the 90s. I was living next to a hill that contained a warren of underground tunnels to support old WWII gun emplacements that protected a harbour, miles and miles of old tunnels. We got council permission to play LARP D&D in there. We ran out of torches in the end, the burning torch kind, no batteries :) it wasn't hard to find light sources, we found a magical lantern that glowed with a strange inner light (batteries), so we were never going to be lost underground, plus we had a map.

I made myself a club for the game - it was a steel tube with a broomhandle inside, wrapped in a rubber camping matress, and then covered in metallic duct tape. The club could have caused serious concussion if you got a direct hit from it, but it was incredibly slow compared to other weapons. We frequently gave it to people wanting to play trolls, as you could sweep people off bridges with it :)
