I am new here, this is my first attempt of starting a topic.
What are your favorite video games of all time? They don't have to be RPGs, they can be anything.
If you can answer, Try and state your general age/the age when you played, something Identifiable for context.
So I'll start.
I grew up with a PS1, This was slightly outdated at the time, everyone had moved on to the PS2. It was a time where you could walk into Tesco or WHSmith and find these games on the shelves.
These are only my favorites, I played many other games that should be mentioned but I do not look at them with particular favor.
My favorite games that still bring me joy to this day:

M&M's Shell Shocked (PS1)
Final Fantasy IX (PS1)
Legacy of Kain - Soul Reaver (PS1)
the LOK series, what a masterpiece of Storytelling!
Tunguska - Legend of Faith (PS1) Spiritually Nostalgic
Tony Hawk's Skateboarding (PS1)
Tekken 3 (PS1) My Conscious won't let me leave it out
Wild 9 (PS1)
Future Racer (PS1) seriously, YouTube it's soundtrack guys
Doom, Final Doom (PS1) and Doom64 when I was mid-teen
Abe's Odyssey / Abe's Exodus (PS1) me and my kid brother as teens)

I then got a Gameboy Color for my 8th (or 10th?) birthday, These were really outdated at the time but to me the Idea that I could play video games anytime, anywhere rocked my world. At the time you could go into Granger-Games and they'd just empty a bag of games on the counter and say "5 for 10!"

Montezuma's Return (GB) The first, I loved the music and the puzzles, I think I completed it multiple times
Donkey Kong Land 3 (GB) What a masterpiece, those old school 3d sprites!
Metroid 2 - Return of Samus (GB)
Pokemon Trading Card Game (GBC?)

Pokemon Red/Blue (GB) I totally dismissed Pokemon at first, I thought it was lame, but this game opened up a whole world for me, and my kid brother

Moving on to the PS2
Shadow the Hedgehog (PS2) It's an epic masterpiece, I don't care what anyone says, I'm even considering doing a YouTube video about it!
Turok - Evolution (PS2)
Prince of Persia - The Two Thrones (PS2)
Omnimusha - Warlords (PS2)

Now the tricky part. I had trouble adjusting to the next Gen consoles, I just didn't understand how they worked... they were too complex for me, and Bad graphics in old Games was part of it's Immersion, to me If I wanted to see people that looked real I'd watch a movie. But of course I got over it.

Dark Souls (PS3) this inspired my love for Medieval Fantasy
Demon Souls (PS3)
Exiled Kingdoms (I spent the last few years obsessed, I literally jumped off my couch when the endgame plot unfolded!)
Borderlands 2 (PS3) I can't leave it out.

And Chip's Challenge (DOS)
And Zelda - Ocarina of Time (N64)
Donkey Kong Country 2 (SNES)

I'm stretching here, But I dare to say I think Dark Souls 1 is my favorite, and If not one of the best games ever to be created. I was into that game for at least 5 years, It is what inspired my love for Fantasy in general.
Again, I could've done more but this is supposed to be my Favorite Games, Not a list of all the games I've played.

I look forward to hearing your stories, Thanks for your time!

Later Edit how could I forget, Mass Effect! 2 and 3 those games blew my mind!

My most favorite game is definitely Zelda! From A Link to the past till The Wind Waker, I love them all.
Also Gothic 1 and 2 (3 was bad and arcane was just shit)
Also Diablo 2 has a place for top 10.
Of course minecraft, didn't played it for years but I was one of the first alpha players, was really awesome (before it became Microsoft and mainstream)
And of course abe's odyssey and soul reaver.

Also the curse of monkey Island (1&2) and Jazz Jackrabbit

Ps: and of course exiled kingdoms

Zelda I dismissed at first... just from naivety, but when I was late teens my friend got me playing Ocarina of Time on Emulator and of course it turned out to be a masterpiece, and a lovable story... I really could say a lot about it. The way the world was designed to have late game secrets in full view, like that guy on the roof in that villiage (If you remember) I think Nintendo are quite good for that. On that note it was quite a challenging game to be fair, In an acceptable, engaging way, of course masterfully crafted to be so.

Windwaker, the same thing but I didn't complete it, that first village was beautiful (Not being too sentimental here) with its music and setting by the sea, and that kid running round with dribble on his face (If you remember?) and of course the whole pirate thing was pretty cool.

Majoras Mask? have you played that one? Wow what a game! What type of mind would come up with something like that!

Ok, so Minecraft I had a brief phase of it, but on PS3 late after its release. I don't know anything about it's alpha phase but I totally understand what you mean. Usually good things get exploited and watered down by big companies.

The Curse of Monkey Island I had it on freeware, of course only a small portion of the game was available, yes it was a masterpiece of story telling, with it's snide humor and the whole Pirate thing, but I didn't get to play it much.

Diablo I'm gonna shock you but I've never played it, In fact I've barely even seen any footage of it. I know of it's reputation though, I should give it a try one day.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

You guys know how to bring back memories...
Let's get this party started!

RPGs:
Diablo: Hellfire
Diablo 2 LoD
Sacred Underworld
- this was the first game I played that had a huge open world to explore with lots of side quests and Easter eggs to discover.
Lionhearth: Legacy of the Crushader - it used Fallout's S.P.E.C.I.A.L system. Exiled Kingdoms use a similar system ( awareness = perception and personality = charisma, but luck is missing)
Dungeon & Dragons
Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark

Path of Exile
The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, Oblivion and Morrowind - even today, after 8 years, these games can surprise me. The lore Bethesda built over time it's like an endless stream of good books to read.
The Witcher 3 - i'm planning to get the first and second games as well.

Strategy
Command & Conquer '95 - I remember you could take down a Panzer with a just a Grenadier, but one small mistake and you man ended up crushed like a bug. Unfortunately they removed the ability to run over infantry in later games...
Red Alert 2 - I used to play this game with my colleagues over LAN. Lots of good memories...
Starcraft: Brood War
Starcraft 2
Warcraft 2: Beyond The Dark Portal
Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne
- the birth of a new genre: MOBA
Heroes of Might and Magic 3 and 3.5 (In the Wake of Gods mod)

Shooters:
Quake 2
Quake 3 Arena
Unreal Tournament
Doom 3
Half Life
Counter Strike 1.5 and 1.6
Return to Castle Wolfenstein

Others:
The Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 and 2, Blood Omen 2 and 1 and Defiance - this is the order I played them. I liked Soul Reaver 2 the most. The story and the ending is just epic.
Castlevania 2
Devil May Cry 3
Skyforge
- before they ruined it with Ascension patch.

I have never played any of those RPGs or Strategy games. So in a sense I haven't really gotten out much...
I can say that I hadn't really been playing video games properly until I played Dark souls. In fact, I didn't know what proper games were. I was the type that played Mass effect on the easiest difficulty, and only played through it once despite all it's depth and replayability.
I played briefly Half-Life which I didn't really take to, and I played briefly Quake on emulator but the same thing.

As for the Legacy of Kain series, those games are timeless! I played Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2, and also Defiance. It's story was amazing, I loved Mobius the Timestreamer, It's great in Soul Reaver 2 when at the endgame his true, evil nature is revealed to Raziel, and his masterplan... of course in Defiance even more so, hes just utter evil, and very powerful.

You know they tried to make an MMO based on the LOK world? I think it was called Nosgoth... It failed, by that I mean it was unsuccessful and cancelled shortly after launch (I think) You can still find traces of it on Steam?

Thanks for sharing.
Ps. I almost forgot, Dungeons and Dragons, Is that the board game?

Total Annihilation is the greatest "Dune 2" style RTS ever made.

Saint's Row 1 & 2 are the best GTA games.

Project Gotham Racing were the best racers ever made.

Baldur's Gate Trilogy are the greatest Iso RPGs.

KOTOR 1 & 2 are the best 3rd-person story RPGs.

Mass Effect 1 & 2 are the best shooter RPGs.

Doom and Quake were the best old-school first-person shooters, Modern Warfare 1 & 2 are the best modern ones.

When really young, I played Dungeons of Daggeroth on TRS-80 and loved the RPG element to such a basic visual.
Betrayal at Krondor (1993?) on PC - (Love Raymond E Feist's Riftwar book series)
Skyrim
Ultima Pagan
Doom (now play it as Brutal Doom)
Heretic
Hexen
Sonic the Hedgehog 1 (1991)
Fallout 4

Another World ( Out of this World)
Flashback
Prince of Persia

Love any game that is innovative, tells a great story and is not a soulless cash grab.

The story is actually deeply impressive, especially as it's just one programmer. Very impressive world building.

I don't know if it is intentional by David or not but there's an Expedition to the Barrier Peaks vibe a mile wide, in a good way, without being a clone.
