Access companions equipment without bringing them in party

What I mean by this... If you already have Hirge following you around, and you want to change out Adaon's cloak, it sure would be cool to be able to view his equipment and exchange it with something in your backpack

This request gets asked a few times but the general mood is that no, that feature will not be part of the game. While it could allow swapping out unique gear in a more timely manner, it also allow using Companions as remote chests.
